Faisan Display began as a visual interpretation of Pheasant Island, a small territory shared between France and Spain. By pushing beyond the traditional rules of both French and Spanish calligraphy, Faisan explores new shapes while holding on to the energy and movement of an italic slant. The design process focused on rhythm and flow, which led to its crisp angles and sharp corners, giving the typeface a strong, expressive voice. With a wide range of alternates and lively swashes, Faisan really comes into its own at larger sizes, where its sharpness and calligraphic character can fully unfold. Faisan Display was designed by Pauline Heppeler in 2023.
