Expressive and cheerful yet sturdy and direct, Maskots is a typeface that brings out all the tricks. Emerging from a class on optical sizes at ECAL, Maskots began as a single-weight display cut alongside a body text style. Over time, the original display cut set out on its own path, developing into a family ranging from Regular to Black, with matching italics. At its core, Maskots draws on the narrow proportions of early grotesque models, a characteristic often associated with early advertising and signage. While remaining solid at smaller sizes, Maskots excels in display use, returning to its original premise of large-scale design. Maskots was designed by Jonathan Bruun between 2024 and 2026.
