Mediaan Roman and Italic were inspired by the cuts ‘Mediaen Romein’ and ‘Mediaen Cursiv’ respectively, found in Nicholas Kis’ so-called ‘Amsterdam specimen’. The fonts convey a typical Dutch transitional taste in the manner of Kis with a strong digital flavour to achieve a modern look. While the Roman has a more subtle, workhorse-like quality, it’s Italic counterpart has a strong calligraphic and expressive touch for a more enhancing character. The faces also include a stylistic set, which contains semi-historical alternates for letters like ‘a’, ‘G’ or the ‘ampersand’.
Mediaan was designed by Dávid Molnár in 2019.
